“The Queen of Hearts, she made some tarts,
All on a summer day:
The Knave of Hearts, he stole those tarts
And took them quite away!”

Some new Alice in Wonderland designs have been added to my Zazzle shop and there will be many more to come. Above is a sticker. I also added a few new t-shirts and a few other things. I will be working on this section for a bit more.
All designs were created from the original book illustrations, drawn by John Tenniel, which are in the public domain.

There are lots of metal fans out there. Some are rusty old vintage fans with heavy dull blades. Some are tall. Some are made for table tops. They keep us cool on hot summer days. They scatter smoke around the room. They help us drift off to sleep to hypnotic hum of spinning blades. Then there are those other metal fans who live for music. This design is for them.

I’ve been working on these Edgar Allan Poe designs for quite some time. It is nice to finally have them finished. I may add more at some distant point in the future. I made things in my Zazzle shop.
For now I shall leave you with this-
From childhood’s hour I have not been
As others were—I have not seen
As others saw—I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I lov’d, I loved alone.
Then—in my childhood—in the dawn
Of a most stormy life—was drawn
From ev’ry depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that ’round me roll’d
In its autumn tint of gold—
From the lightning in the sky
As it pass’d me flying by—
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.
-Edgar Allen Poe

In the modern era of downloads, i pods, and CD’s not many cares much about cassettes any more. There are a few folks that still collect vinyl, myself included, but very few still collect tapes. Yes, they still make them, mostly low quality demos recorded on 4 tracks. When I buy a tape it’s usually a collection of christ raping anthems written by some cold, grim black metal band that more often then not more then one member. Occasionally I can also find an old school death metal album that is still kicking around. I’m always on the look out for tapes and when I do come across them I’m often filled with much glee and excitement. I feel I’m the only one left on this earth that still buy tapes. Why do I like them so? Maybe because when I really started getting into music that’s what was around back then. So perhaps there is a bit of nostalgia connected with them. I also like indestructible quality of cassettes. They can be thrown, smashed and stepped on and still play just fine. If they do happen to break they can be wound back up and taped back together again. You just can’t do that with a CD. I have tapes that have been through hell and back again and still play. I have CD’s that have started to skip once they been loved a bit too much. They are also fabulous because they are so damn cheep these days, and who doesn’t love a bargain.
[onward with spam] I created a section in my Cafepress shop which reflects my old school love of tapes. I’ll be honest, it’s not one my most original designs. In fact it one of my few clipart designs, but it’s still awesome. There are plenty of other designs like it out there already, but nevertheless it was made love. Enjoy! And next time your see a long forgotten, neglected tape out there give it a chance. There was once a time when they were cool.
I came across this Vintage book illustration on a nice little web site called Karen’s Whimsy. It’s old, very old, although I don’t know the date in which it was published or the book in which it was from. This is how the original looks. I thought the little fairy looked just like Winter. It really was the perfect mother daughter portrait, drawn strangely enough, long before either of us ever existed. I spent months editing it. I took out the gray that loomed behind the lines of the drawing. I changed the flowing hair, the dress and made a few other changes. Then I added the color. This took quite some time as I could not make up my mind about the colors I wanted. I knew the long wavy hair had to be many shades of violet, like my own sometimes is, and I just took it from there. I wanted it to be a Winter scene for Winter of course. The background was already black and I left it as is, as a representation of me, as my name means night. I think this is the perfect picture of us, of course it’s not really us…or is it.
